Sawmill Canyon

On Friday, April 27, 2007, Ken, Linda, Candy, and Carl drove up Garden Canyon and hiked Sawmill Canyon on Ft. Huachuca in the Huachuca Mountains.
Click here for a map of the area.
We stopped at two pictograph sites and parked at the Boy Scout cabin, altitude 6220'.  We hiked the 2.2 mile Sawmill Trail past Sawmill Spring to where it intersects the Crest Trail on the boundary of Ft. Huachuca, altitude 7500', for an elevation change of 1280'.  For more pictograph pictures from a week earlier, click here.

We crossed the bridge

to the first pictograph site.
Garden Creek was
clear and pretty.

Could this be a Red-tailed

Linda looks pretty happy.
On the way out of Garden
Canyon, we saw a herd of
8 pronghorn antelope.
We stopped the car and they
didn't seem concerned that
we were there.
